Corporate Cultures Are Not Totally Homogeneous
Companies,
especially large, complex organization, have more than one culture operating. Although
the core values of the organization should be the same across the entire
organization. Functional departments, divisions, and business units tend to
develop distinct subcultures of their own. Historically, skills, practices, and
policies valued in one area not necessarily valued in another.
Talent admired
and respected by scientists in R&D, for example, are likely to completely
different from those admired and respected by staff member in public relations
or by plant workers in manufacturing. Perceptions, assumptions, and beliefs can
vary, depending on the context of each environment. What’s important for
organization, however, is to create a unified vision that everyone can see and
embrace and a mission tha everyone understands and can work toward.
